Lunar Eclipse of December 10, 2011 Los Angeles

The upcoming total lunar eclipse of December 10, 2011 takes place in the early morning hours of 6:36 AM PST.  This eclipse is notable for California as the eclipse takes place on the AC/DC axis with the Nodes sitting on the AC/DC axis.  The eclipse does not hit any major points in the Los Angeles chart per se, but there are several transits that form aspects to the LA chart increasing the chances for seismic activity.

So let's take a look at the Los Angeles chart below.
The Transiting Venus at the time of the eclipse conjoins Radical Mars at 17 Capricorn at trines the Radical Part of Fortune at 17 Taurus.  Transiting Mars at 13 Virgo conjoins the Radical Sun at 12 Virgo and squares the Radical Saturn at 13 Sagittarius.  Transiting Pluto at 6 Capricorn squares the Radical chart ruler Venus at 7 Libra.  And there's more.  Transiting Saturn is making an exact conjunction to the Radical AC and South Node providing important angular stimulation seen in most quake charts.  Transiting Mercury at the time of the eclipse at 4 Sagittarius is in aspect to Radical Pluto at 4 Aquarius and opposite the TNP Apollon at 4 Gemini and trine to Radical Neptune at 4 Libra.  Not shown is the Solar Arc of Saturn at 4 Leo is exact with Radical Pluto.  While no planet or point in the LA chart has received an exact hit from the eclipses this year, the Radical MC at 29 Cancer was eclipsed exact in July of 2009 with Transiting Jupiter within a 1 degree orb of square to this point at 0 Taurus--yet more angular stimulation. Also noted is Black Moon Lilith squaring the Radical MC/IC angle from 29 Aries. Some astrologers consider this empty focus point bad luck.  I can't say whether it is or not, but it is noted.  Transiting Neptune at 28 Aquarius currently in the Radical 4th house is opposing the Radical Mercury at 27 Leo and the Progressed LA Moon at 28 Leo.  It is also shown Transiting Uranus is in the Aries point degree and could point to a central important event involving the greater public.  Uranus turns direct on this day upping the chances for the unexpected to happen.  Whatever the case may be, time to be alert and if you get a chance, take a look outside after 6 am on the West Coast  of California and Canada to see a lovely, super, large, copper coloured lunar eclipse.

California and the Libra Ingress and New Moon Period for 2011

In the last couple of days I've looked over the charts of California and Los Angeles though neither chart has had any recent eclipses to follow the Transiting Nodal position. Also, I wanted to check the upcoming squares of the Transiting Sun and Mercury to the eclipse degrees of 29 Gemini and 24 Sagittarius will stimulate either of the progressed charts and in fact they do. A day or two before the Libra Ingress on September 23, 2011 the Progressed Los Angeles chart is making significant transit stimulation aspects and will more than likely increase seismic activity if not an actual moderate to strong quake.

The first transit to note is the position of the Transiting Node making an exact square to the IC/MC angle at 17 Virgo Pisces.  In the Radical chart of LA, this same angle was eclipsed exact at 29 Cancer/Capricorn. So the Transiting Node is finally making an exact contact with the Progressed Axis.

Next, there is Transiting Pluto making a near exact conjunction with the DC angle stimulating the exact square to Progressed Neptune.

The Transiting Sun at 28-29 Virgo is making a square to the Progressed Jupiter and Uranus at 28 and 29 Sagittarius and Gemini and in square to the eclipse of December 21, 2010.
Transiting Mercury will be in position to oppose the Progressed Venus at 25 Pisces and square the eclipse degree of 24 Sagittarius.
Transiting Saturn passes over the Progressed South Node at 16 Libra in the 4th house while Transiting Venus opposes the Progressed Mercury at 7 Aries and trines Progressed Pluto at 8 Aquarius.
Transiting Mars at 2 Leo squares the Progressed Sun at 2 Taurus and trines the Transiting Uranus at 2 Aries.  While the trine suggest an easier flowing energy, the square of Transiting Mars to the Sun indicates this could also increase the stress and urge to break free.

The Transiting Jupiter position is interesting, it's conjunct the Progressed Chiron in Taurus while square within 1 degree to the Progressed Pluto. Astrologer HS Green has noted that earthquakes are associated with the fixed signs Taurus and Scorpio.  The symbolic urge of Jupiter's propensity for expansion and in square to Progressed Pluto makes for an uneasy combination given Pluto's explosive and destructive mundane reputation.  Chiron's symbolic meaning can be healing or wounding.

Transiting Neptune's trine to the Progressed opposition between Uranus and Jupiter across the angles adds to the mix and is also forming a trine to the Progressed Fortuna ( although the position of Fortuna could be off as the exact time of the Los Angeles chart isn't absolutely confirmed as accurate).  Fortuna in quake charts I have studied can be useful as guide to show when the timing is right for an event when all other factors and transits converge.

As to the timing of a possible and likely window for seismic activity, the transit really begin heating up the Progressed LA chart from September 22, 2011 passed the New Moon in Libra on the 27th.

There is one other chart I would like mention here and that's the San Andreas Fault Chart.  This chart was the recipient of an exact partial solar eclipse this summer at 9 Cancer.  The chart is untested for quake research, but I have monitoring it.  What is interesting to note about this particular chart, is the Transiting South Node is in conjunction with the Progressed Neptune at 17 Gemini at this time while Transiting Saturn in is conjunction with the Progressed Chiron at 17 Libra, Transiting Jupiter is opposite the Progressed Saturn at 8-9 Scorpio  and Transiting Mars will be forming a square to the Progressed IC/MC angle during the time period mentioned above.  The angles of the San Andreas Chart are not exactly known at the chart is set for noon.

As always, remain calm but prepared just in case.

The week of August 7, 2011

In  late evening  of August 10, 2011 Transiting Mars and Trasiting Pluto will meet in opposition to one another across the Progressed AC/DC axis in the Los Angeles chart thus increasing the possibility for seismic activity in the region.
Mars and Pluto are explosive energies and when they meet in an eclipse degree across the Progressed Angles of the LA chart it could signal an important event to take place. At the same time, Transiting Saturn will reach 13 degrees Libra squaring the eclipse degree of Capricorn 13 from the solar eclipse in January.   Yet, there are more transits making aspects to this Progressed chart.  Transiting Jupiter conjoins the Progressed Chiron at 9 Taurus while the Transiting Mercury RX sextiles the eclipse degree of 29 Gemini from the Dec 2010 Lunar Eclipse and stimulates the Progressed grand square of Progressed Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, and Neptune while the Transiting Moon conjoins the Progressed Saturn at 1 Capricorn in the later hours of Tuesday.
Two other transit notations are that of TNP Apollon at the Progressed Fortuna conjunct the Natal AC at 27 Libra and the point of Black Moon Lilith nearing the Progressed Node at 16 Aries.
However, the Transiting Node any major aspect other than an approaching semi-sextile to the progressed Vertex conjoined with Radical Jupiter ( not shown) at 21 Scorpio which lessens the chances for a sizable quake. Also not shown is the Transiting Sun squaring the Radical fortuna at 17 Taurus while the Transiting Venus is squaring the Progressed BM Lilith point at 15 Taurus.

Summer Eclipse Season and California 2011

Summer Eclipse season is here.  Back in March of this year, I posted an update for the San Andreas chart and how the two Solar Eclipses of June 1st and July 1st hit placements in the San Andreas chart.  So far, luckily, no major activity has occurred on the fault line.  However, there's been an uptick, as always, during the days surrounding lunations and eclipses.  Most of the microquakes have been popping up around the southern portion of the San Andreas fault and the San Jacinto fault lines.

The upcoming lunar eclipse on June 15, 2011 at 24 Sagittarius doesn't directly impact any placements in the charts of Los Angeles, San Francisco, California, or the San Andreas fault but the eclipse is angular for San Francisco, falling very near exact to the IC and is near ( 5 degrees orb) in Los Angeles which is concerning because where eclipses are angular are usually where the eclipse effects are more often felt.  Looking at the Progressed chart of Los Angeles with this in mind, there is some danger from a moderate to strong quake in this region.  So let's take a look.
Around June 9th or late in the day  June 8th PDT, the transiting Sun moves into square with the Progressed IC angle at 17 Gemini and the transiting Moon at 16 Virgo adding stress.  Transiting Mars is square to the Progressed Moon at 21 Leo and opposite the Progressed Vertex at 21 Scorpio.

*The Progressed LA Moon at 21 Leo is also square to the Radical Jupiter at 21 Scorpio conjunct the Progressed Vertex at 21 Scorpio adding a tremendous amount of stimulation to this point. ( not shown)  The Vertex acts as a point of fate/ or a predestined  appointment in mundane affairs as far as my research has shown me thus far.

Transiting Mercury at 12 Gemini is conjunct with the Progressed Mars at 11 Gemini and is opposite the Radical LA Saturn at 13 Sagittarius ( not shown). However, the Progressed Mars and Radical Saturn are not considered to be in progressed opposition at this time. Transiting Mercury at 12 Gemini also stimulates the Radical Sun of the Los Angeles chart at 12 Gemini.

Transiting Uranus at 4 Aries is square to the Progressed AC//DC angle at 4 Cancer indicating a possible unexpected shock to the area and it's people.  Transiting Uranus is also sextile to Progressed Apollon, a possible point of expansion, perhaps something akin to X marks the spot in astrology.

I've added asteroid Ceres because Ceres symbolizes mother nature.  Transiting Ceres is  at 24 Pisces conjunct Progressed Venus and is square to the Transiting Node at 23 Sagittarius.  The upcoming lunar eclipse of June 15, 2011 takes place at 24 Sagittarius further highlighting and stimulating the Progressed Venus which is also the radical chart ruler of the Los Angeles chart.  Having a transiting node stimulate this position points to possible event involving mother nature and the people of Los Angeles region. The Transiting Node is also sextile to the Progressed fortuna at 24 Libra.

Transiting Pluto at 6 Capricorn is square to Progressed Mercury at 6 Aries and Progressed Neptune at 6 Libra, both lying in angular houses.  This has the potential to set off the opposition between the two planets and activate the grand cross aspects in the Progressed chart.  Both planets, Mercury and Neptune rule the Progressed 4th and 10th houses, while the transiting Sun and Moon in square are activating the same angles from 17 Gemini and 16 Virgo ( square and conjunct the IC/MC progressed axis).

Transiting Apollon at 27 Libra is very close to the Radical AC angle of the Los Angeles chart and hit it exact within days.  This could be an important indicator.

At any rate, there is a Moon Wobble with the upcoming lunar eclipse, adding more stress on the earth's crust, so it's time to be alert and be prepared for whatever mother nature has in store. As always, remain calm but pay attention.

Transits for April 19-21, 2011

Looks like we are entering another period of danger for the transits to the Japan chart signalling the possibility of yet another strong aftershock.  Here's the chart:
At the top of the chart, Transit Saturn at 12 Libra has moved into opposition with Radical Mercury and an exact square with the Eclipsed Radical Chiron at 12 Capricorn stimulating the Grand Cross setup between Radical Saturn,  Radical Chiron, and Radical Mercury, and Radical Uranus at 10 Cancer.

Transit Jupiter will move into an exact opposition with Radical Neptune at 19 Libra,  trines Radical Pluto at 19 Leo ( not all trines are easy or positive, especially when it's the outer planets) , and conjuncts the IC angle at 20 Aries.  Jupiter has an increasing or expanding effect and Pluto is known as the transformer through destruction of what is existing, so  the combination of these two planets could be good or increase the propensity for unfortunate events.  That they are stimulating the 4th and 8th houses doesn't bode well.

The Transiting Sun is stimulating square the eclipse point of 29 Cancer ( July 2009 SE seen in Japan) and meets up with Radical Jupiter at 29 Aries.

The Transiting Mars is conjunct with Radical Mercury at 13 Aries separating, and stimulating the Eclipsed Chiron at 12 Capricorn and the eclipse degree of 13 Capricorn via the square while opposing Transiting Saturn and conjunct Transiting Mercury Rx, making for some very bad news.

Furthermore, Transit Venus will square the Eclipsed Radical Angular Moon at 28 Gemini stimulating the lunar eclipse of December 2010.

Transiting Neptune at 0 Pisces trines the Radical DC angle thus adding stimulation to the angle yet again. The Transiting Moon will be conjunct the Radical Mars on the 19th (20th in Japan) at 11 Scorpio  and square to the Radical Vertex at 11 Leo and heads toward squares with the Radical Fortuna and Radical Node at 21 and 27 Aquarius later on the 20th and 21st.

Transiting Pluto at 7 Capricorn is 2 degrees from a square to the Radical Saturn at Libra.  Since Pluto moves so slowly, this transit is going to be around for some time, but the direction of Transiting Pluto is now moving in retrograde motion  from the Radical Saturn at 9 Libra until Mid September 2011.

Something not shown in the Radical chart is the Progressed Fortuna at 25 Aries is trine to the Transiting Node at 24 Sagittarius, while Transiting Apollon is trine to the Radical Node at 27 Aquarius.  This really concerns me because it ups the ante on a significant events occurring.  My hope is that it would be positive news rather than more disastrous news.  However, as events have unfolded in the news about Japan, the transits have shown contacts with the Radical positions in the chart and the news hasn't been good.

These transits are deeply concerning for Japan.  There is likely to be an uptick in seismic activity elsewhere too with these transits.  Some likely spots are New Zealand and California.  New Zealand's chart is especially affected by the Transiting Node, Transiting Sun, Transiting Jupiter, and Transiting Saturn and Mars.  In fact, New Zealand could get a sizable jolt this week.

Danger Not Over for Japan

I am very concerned for the people of Japan right now, especially when I photos and video of children and adults walking around the neighborhoods devastated by the quake and tsunami.  The danger is not over, not even close.  Not only the danger from a complete nuclear meltdown and fallout, but the serious danger of yet another very strong aftershock in the coming days that has the potential to cause even more damage.  The possibility of another wave hitting the coast line is  real if there is a aftershock of 8+ or greater.  The Full Moon on March 19-20th stimulates the December 21, 2010 Lunar Eclipse that hit Japan's Radical Moon at 28 Gemini via the square and is a moon wobble with the Transiting South Node in contact with this point.  Furthermore, Mars will be transiting 19-20 Pisces hitting opposite the Progressed Vertex, Apollon, and Radical Fortuna combination.  Transiting Venus will be opposite the Progressed Moon/Pluto combination at 18 Leo and Jupiter will be transiting conjunct the Radical Mercury at 12 Aries square to Radical Eclipsed Chiron at 12 Capricorn and squaring Progressed Uranus at 13 Cancer.  It's still a very, very dangerous time for Japan and I am concerned about the further loss of life, deteriorating health of its citizens and the fallout for the rest of the world.

The Upcoming June Solar Eclipse and the San Andreas Fault

First of all, let me apologize for a previous error to my San Andreas Fault Chart.  The year was 1895 instead of 1894.  I now correct the error and have looked at past notable quakes on the fault including the Ft. Tejon, Wrightwood, and 1906 San Francisco quakes with regard to this chart and it fits.  As the exact time is unknown.

With my new updated chart, I would like to go over the Solar Eclipse for June 1, 2011 because it has significance for the San Andreas chart.  The Solar Eclipse takes place at 5:02 pm EDT time at 11 Gemini.  This will eclipse the Radical Pluto exact of the San Andreas chart possibly signaling a great change is due.  One month later another Solar Eclipse at 9 Cancer eclipses the Radical Sun of this chart within 1 degree of exact.
So with the eclipses active in the chart, I'd like to note the following progressions in the San Andreas chart that will be in force.
One of the most notable progression is that of the Progressed Sun conjunct with the Radical Saturn at 0 Scorpio.  In the Solar Eclipse chart for June 1, 2011 0 degrees Scorpio is rising, set for Washington D.C. ( head of nation, and place of publication for the San Andreas Chart).  This is further aspected by the Eclipse Neptune at 0 Pisces.  Progressed Saturn is trine with the Radical Sun at 8 Cancer. Yet it is the Progressed Node at 11 Pisces square with the Radical Pluto at 11 Gemini that is of most concern because it is this combination that will get stimulated directly on the same day from the eclipse. Other progressions that are exact are Progressed Ceres opposite the Radical Sun and Progressed Apollon at 16 Leo square to Radical Uranus at 16 Scorpio, inconjunct to Radical Neptune at 16 Gemini and square to the Eclipse chart Mars at 16 Taurus.  There's an awful lot going on between the natal and progressed chart of the San Andreas Fault and the Solar Eclipse of June 1, 2011.

The Progressed Node squaring Radical Pluto also points to a challenging significant change.

The transits to the Radical San Andreas Chart are shown here.  The Transiting North Node is trine to Radical Venus ruling the Ascendant  and sextile to the Radical Moon at 23 Libra ( yet the timing of the chart is set for noon, so it's ???)  The Transiting Saturn is square Radical Mercury and the Lunar Eclipse degree of 10 Cancer from December 31, 2010.  Transiting Pluto at 6 Capricorn is conjunct with the IC angle ( again exact time is unknown).  Transiting Neptune is trine to the Radical Saturn at 0 Scorpio.  Transiting Chiron trine to the Radical MC ( yet again, exact time unknown).  Transiting Uranus is square to the Radical Chiron.  Transiting Jupiter is square to the Solar Eclipse of 29 Cancer and opposite the Radical Saturn at 0 Scorpio. ( note Transit Jupiter's position is squaring the Radical MC angle in the LA chart-not shown here)  Transiting Mars is opposite the Radical Uranus coming into exact within the day of the eclipse. Transiting Venus is trine for Radical Fortuna ( however, the exact timing of the chart is unknown).   Transiting Mercury is in the fixed star degree of Algol, a malefic influence but is not making an significant contact with chart. Transiting Neptune is trine to the Radical Saturn, yet another stimulation to this point.  This is a big sticking point for this chart since the Progressed Sun is in the same degree as Radical Saturn and Progressed Saturn is trine to the Radical Sun a 8 Cancer soon to be eclipsed on July 1, 2011 along with Radical Mercury.  The Transiting Pluto is sitting the 4th house conjunct the IC angle ( again, exact time of chart is unknown) and is forming a T square with the transits of Uranus and Saturn showing the potential for unexpected, great change and loss.

Finally, it's the connection the San Andreas, the eclipse and the Progressed LA chart that concerns me.
  • The transits to Progressed San Andreas with connections to the LA chart are the

  • Transiting  Neptune trine Progressed Sun that is conjunct Radical San Andreas Saturn at 0 Scorpio.
  • The Transiting Uranus inconjunct to Progressed San Andreas Mercury and conjunct the Radical LA Moon.
  • The Transit Jupiter square to eclipse degree at 29 Aries and square to the Radical LA MC exact and conjunct fixed star Alrisha.
  • The Transit Mars square the San Andreas Progressed Apollon at 16 Leo on June 2 and conjunct the LA Radical Fortuna at 17 Taurus on June 3.
  • The Transit Venus trine Progressed San Andreas Moon at 21 Capricorn and Progressed San AndreasVenus at 21 Virgo opposite the Radical LA Jupiter at 21 Scorpio and Progressed LA Vertex at 21 Scorpio on June 2.
  • The Transit Mercury conjunct the fixed star group known as the Pleiades at 29 Taurus on June 2 called the weeping sisters associated with sorrow and tragedy and also squares the LA radical Mercury at 27 Leo on June 1, 2011.
  • The Transiting Sun and Transiting Moon ( the Solar Eclipse) eclipsing the Radical San Andreas Pluto square the Progressed San Andreas Node at 11 Pisces and conjunct the Progressed LA Mars at 11 Gemini, and square the LA Radical Sun at 12 Virgo.
  • Although nothing is stimulating this  point, it's worth noting the Progressed San Andreas Mars is conjunct the LA Radical AC at 26 Libra.
The only point that may not be particularly active is the Transiting Node.  The Transiting Node is NOT forming a conjunction to any radical or progressed planetary position or point.  The Transiting Nodes will be at 23 Sagittarius/Gemini thus only forming a trine to the the Radical Venus in the San Andreas chart.  The nodal position is very important to the timing of quakes and is ALWAYS found active in the Radical or Progressed positions forming conjunctions or squares to placements in the chart.  This is NOT a feature in the San Andreas or Los Angeles charts in June 2011.  The only significant node contact is between the Progressed San Andreas node forming an exact square to the Radical Pluto at 11 Gemini that will be eclipsed.

The Solar Eclipse of July 1, 2011 is also of concern for the San Andreas chart as the Radical Sun and Mercury at 8 and 9 Cancer are to be eclipsed as well.  It could be an eventful summer.

Remember, the Super Full Moon is coming up on Saturday that will stimulate the December 21, 2011 Lunar Eclipse that squares the Progressed Jupiter at 28 Sagittarius in the Los Angeles chart and currently has the Transiting North Node passing over it.  The Transiting Mercury will also be forming a trine with the Progressed Node at 16 Leo and Venus transiting square to the Progressed Vertex in exact conjunction with Radical Jupiter at 21 Scorpio.  This Full Moon is a Moon Wobble.  Last Easter there was a Moon Wobble in effect at 16 Aries Sun square to the transiting node at 16 Capricorn and produced the 7.2 Baja Quake.  This Moon Wobble mirrored the Progressed LA Node at 16 Aries and Radical Mars at 17 Capricorn
aspect.  Although, the Los Angeles chart hasn't been hit by the two recent eclipses, it doesn't hurt to be cautious and prepared.

A Very Sad Day for Japan

This is a very sad day for Japan as a massive 8.9 quake occurred in Northern Japan and triggered a tsunami that has devastated the country and continued to travel across the Pacific.

I have been concerned about Japan for some time as I have mentioned it before in a previous posting, but for the most part keep this blog focused on California.  Well, today I will be focusing on the chart of Japan because there are features in the chart that hold important clues for major quakes elsewhere.  My files on world quakes keeps growing and I have learned a great deal from studying them, so here it is.

The radical chart of Japan is seen here. The most important indicator of a quake is an eclipse, especially an eclipse located on an angle.
*In this case, the December 21, 2010 LA at 29 Gemini eclipsed the Radical Moon at 28 Gemini close to the DC angle.  On March 11, 2011, the South Node was transiting over this point in the fixed star degree of Betelguese.  However, it was the March 9, 2011 7+ magnitude foreshock that was in an exact conjunction with the fixed star Betelguese and the North Node was in the fixed star degree of Acumen.
* The Solar Eclipse of January 4, 2011 at 13-14 Capricorn eclipsed the Radical Chiron at 12 Chiron with Mars transiting in sextile to this point on the day of the quake.
*The Radical Uranus at 10 Cancer was eclipsed on December 31, 2009 which has the Transiting Jupiter stimulating that eclipse via square from 10 Aries.  This is an indicator of a great shock or unexpected event.

The transits of Jupiter on this day of the quake are quite revealing as Jupiter is making contact with a number of important placements. Transiting Jupiter is also opposite the Radical Saturn at 9 Libra which is an aspect symbolizing significant loss.  Transiting Jupiter is also coming into an exact trine with the Radical Vertex highlighting an important fated event as the Vertex is a point of fated meetings.  Transiting Jupiter is also coming into square within a 2 degree orb of the eclipsed Chiron indicating a great wound to the nation.

The transit of Uranus is within minutes of reaching the Aries Point degree at 0.00 Aries considered to be a critical degree in astrology  indicating events of world wide reknown.  Uranus was at 29 degrees 57 minutes at the time the quake first hit in separating conjunction with the fixed star Scheat known for it's unfortunate influence involving water tragedies.

The transit of Neptune at 29 Aquarius passed over the Radical Node but is also receiving an influence from the hypothetical TransNeptunianPlanet Apollon at 28 Libra.  In looking at past quakes, most especially major ones, I have found Apollon to have influence of magnification, like Jupiter only greater.  It's not traditionally used by the ancients, but it's interesting to note.

The transits of the Sun on the day of the quake are most interesting.  The Transiting Sun at 20 Pisces
is in exact opposition to the Radical TransNeptunian Apollon, again, a magnifying effect.  The Transiting Sun is also inconjunct to the Radical MC at 20 Libra indicating a significant( great) yet uncomfortable adjustment (inconjunct aspect) for the nation. Perhaps the most intriguing aspects involving the Transiting Sun occur with the Progressions in the Japan chart shown below.
It is here we see the Progressed Vertex at 20-21 Virgo is inconjunct the Radical Fortuna at 21 Aquarius with the Transiting Sun opposing the exactness of the progression.  In my opinion, this is what I call the 'mega effect' when combined with the transits of Jupiter (expansion) and Apollon (magnification of expansion). Fortuna is considered to be a point of luck in natal astrology but in mundane astrology, it would seem to be an indicator of 'X' marks the spot whether it is good or bad depending on your perspective.  Having Fortuna, Apollon, and the Vertex meet up would seem to be here marks the spot for a fated event of great magnitude and set off by the transit of the Sun in opposition.
Another feature involving the Sun is the location of the Sun in the Radical Japan chart.  It sits at 8 Taurus in the 4th house.  At the time of the quake, The Radical Sun was on the MC of the quake chart bringing the nation to the forefront in the eyes of world as the Sun of a national chart represents the leader of the nation and its Monarchs.  The President is dealing with a lot right now trying to save a nation from a complete nuclear meltdown and recovery from the worst quake and tsunami to hit the nation since records have been kept.

The Progressed Uranus is opposite the Solar Eclipse of January 4, 2011.  It is this point is soon to be stimulated in the coming weeks as Transiting Jupiter is headed into forming an exact square from March 22, 2011, posing more danger for the nation over the next several days from that time.  Days that are highlighted according to the upcoming transits are March 23 and March 24 as the Transiting Sun squares the Progressed Sun, Transiting Moon conjunct with the Progressed Moon and Pluto ( most likely time for another event), Transiting Mercury opposes the Apollon Vertex combo, Transit Venus conjoins the Radical Node at 27 Aquarius on the 24th-25th, Transit Mars is within oppostion orb to the Progressed Apollon Vertex combo and in trine to the Progressed Mercury, Jupiter squares the eclipse degree and the Progressed Sun, Transit Pluto squaring the Progressed Saturn and Uranus in the Aries Point degree. In Mid April Jupiter moves forward to oppose Radical Neptune at 19 Libra and conjunct the Radical IC angle at 20 Aries adding to the confusion among the people.

The Moon in mundane astrology represents the people, it's also connected with sea and land. If any indicator was representative of what has happened with this quake it is the Moon.  In the progressed chart, the Moon is in an exact conjunction with the Radical and Progressed Pluto which is most unfortunate.  Pluto is a life-changing planet and rules such things as death, transformation, life-altering change through the destruction of the old to make way for new.  Having the Progressed Moon ( the people, the sea) in conjunction with Pluto indicates a life-altering change, deaths involved with water, and great disruption for the people.  Being that the progressed conjunction is in the 6th house could indicate the health of the people will suffer, food and water are scare and dear, and in general severe hardship.  At the time of the quake, the Transiting Moon was at 0 Gemini forming an exact inconjunct to the Radical AC angle.  This position is the degrees of the fixed stars known as the Pleiades, a most unfortunate position.  The Pleiades according to Dr. Eric Morse, p.39.The Living Stars] are thought to cause  bereavement, mourning, sorrows and tragedies. And so it happened.

It is my opinion, the tragedy of this event was set off by all of the above factors, but as to the timing of why at that exact time and not a day or two on either side is indicated by the Transiting Sun in large part.  The Sun made contact with the Progressed combination of Radical Fortuna, Progressed Vertex, and Apollon.  The secondary factor is the Transiting Moon hitting the fixed star group of the Pleiades inconjunct to the Radical AC angle.

Japan is likely to experience more aftershocks in the coming week when the full moon creates more stress from a moon wobble effect.  A moon wobble occurs when the Sun, Moon, and Nodes are in square aspect to one another.  This occurs on the March 19-20, 2011 at 28 Virgo feeding stress into the eclipsed Moon of Japan at 28 Gemini.  More developments in Japan are likely as the transiting Jupiter moves toward conjunction with the Radical Mercury at 12 Aries and squares the eclipsed Radical Chiron and Progressed Sun at 13 Cancer stimulating the Solar Eclipse of January 4, 2011. Mercury rules the 6th house of health so fallout from a nuclear meltdown is of particular concern especially so considering the upcoming transits.  It's heartbreaking to see the devastation and know that many people are suffering and being virtually powerless to do much of anything to help.  It's going to be a long and difficult recovery, but if any nation can do it, it will be Japan.

In the coming week, there are other national charts of concern for quakes.  They are New Zealand, Mexico, and Southern California as the transiting node is making contact with eclipsed planets in those charts.  More later.

Curious Transits for March 9, 2011

March 9, 2011 has some interesting transits that may or may not have significance for Southern California.
Here's a look at them.
Notice the Transiting Sun has crossed the Progressed MC angle, the Transiting Node is conjunct Progressed Jupiter at 28 degrees 55 minutes activating the Grand Cross formation along with Transiting Uranus and Transiting Mercury via the square at 29 Pisces in the fixed star Scheat.  This is also the day, ( March 8, 2011 for PST) when the Transiting South Node hits the fixed star Betelgeuse at 28 degrees 45 minutes  ( associated with war and carnage) while the Transiting North Node hits fixed star Acumen at 28 degrees 45 minutes Sagittarius ( a so called 'blind" star).  Transiting Jupiter is conjunct with the fixed star Erakis noted for earthquakes.  Transiting Mars is square to Progressed Mars at 11 Gemini while Transiting Venus is conjunct the Progressed Pluto.  The last two transits of note are the Transit Saturn in conjunction with the Progressed South Node and Transit Moon is conjunction with the Progressed Sun.  It's likely to be a noteworthy day.  Whether or not it signals a quake remains to be seen.  The potential is there, but the Radical LA chart hasn't received much in the way of eclipses in the last year.  The MC at 29 Cancer was eclipsed in the summer of 2009, and the Progressed AC angle was eclipsed in June 2010.  Time will tell, but this month the risk from earthquakes is elevated and will be all month long.  Time to watch from now, the full moon period, and the 3rd and final Jupiter-Saturn opposition on the 27-28th.  It's a stormy period this month and heading into April --stay alert.

A Serious Concern for Southern California

It's nearing the New Moon for March and this one poses a significant danger for seismic activity around the world and a very serious concern in the next day or two for Southern California.  The Progressed Los Angeles chart is on fire right now with transits to the eclipse degrees making contact with the progressed planets in the chart.  March 2, 2011 is of particular concern.

Several transits of concern are the Transiting Node to Progressed Saturn, Jupiter, and Uranus opposition across the AC/DC axis square to Transiting Uranus in the eclipse degree of 29 Pisces/Virgo conjunct the fixed star Scheat ( a well known star for misfortune in mundane astrology, yet, the misfortune is more likely to be related to water).  Also the Transiting retrograde Saturn is heading back toward a exact conjunction with the Progressed South Node in the 4th house while Transiting Venus is opposite the eclipse degree of 29 Cancer and conjunct with the Radical IC of the LA chart ( not shown).  The Transiting Sun squares the Progressed Mars at 11 Gemini.

And yet, the timing of a potential quake would be most likely when the Moon transits in opposition to the Progressed Moon at 18 Leo or more likely when the Moon transits 20-21 Aquarius square to the Progressed Vertex and trine to the Progressed Fortuna.

Update: March 3, 2011  Still on quake watch.   The Transiting South Node has reached the eclipse degree at 29 Gemini conjunction with malefic fixed star Menkalinan associated with violence, disgrace and ruin.  The Transiting Moon is moving into square with Progressed Apollon at 4 Gemini, trine the Progressed AC, and then moves onward to oppose the Radical Sun at 12 Virgo (not shown) before the New Moon and later in the evening toward a conjunction with the Progressed MC at 17 Pisces. In the early morning hours of March 5th the Transiting Moon will then form a trine to the  Progressed Vertex at 21 Scorpio and later in the evening of March 5 to square the Progressed Jupiter, Uranus, and Node after the New Moon on the March 4, 2011.

Potential Danger Ahead for California

The time has arrived when the transiting node is approaching the Progressed Uranus at 29 Gemini in the Los Angeles chart.  The mean node is at 29 Sagittarius with the South Mean Node conjunct Uranus.  This is quite troubling as Uranus is a "wild card" in astrological terms and having the Transiting South Node conjoin it while also receiving transit stimulation via the square of Transiting Uranus at 29 Pisces is a double dose of rebellious Uranian energy.  It was also this degree of 29 Gemini that was eclipsed on December 21, 2010. On Saturday, February 26, 2011, the Transiting Moon will combine with the transiting Mean North Node to further feed energy into the Progressed Uranus aspect configuration.

This occurs in the afternoon hours of February 26, 2011.  it is also during this time several other transits stimulate the progressed aspects.
Transit Saturn conjoins the Progressed South Node in the 4th house.  Transiting Jupiter and Transiting Pluto are square to one another and provide stimulation to the opposition between the Progressed Mercury and Progressed Neptune.
I've added in the dwarf planet Ceres, as a Ceres seems to be active in a number of disaster charts. Ceres is representative of the earth mother so it's perhaps logical she has a role in earthquakes.  It's transiting Ceres at 21 Aquarius that squares the Progressed Vertex at 21 Scorpio which is also in exact progression to radical LA Jupiter.
There is one other progression that is exact ( not shown) in this chart and that is the Progressed Moon is exact with the Radical Fortuna at 17 Taurus by square but is not currently receiving stimulation.

As we move through the next several weeks, it would be prudent to be prepared for an emergency as the Transiting Mean Node and True Node make contact with the Progressed Grand Cross aspects.  The nodes are karmic in nature and are very sensitive points especially when making contact with the eclipse degrees.  The nodes are always active in all charts when significant events occur.  I cannot say for certain when or where an earthquake will occur at this point, but the risk from one is elevated in looking at this chart.

Quake Potential Watch in California

It's been so time since I have posted anything about seismic activity in California, yet, now we are entering another period where the potential for seismic activity is heightened.
Let's start with a look at the current transits for the New Moon of February 3, 2011.

The New Moon takes place at 13 Aquarius on the fixed star Dorsum conjunct the eclipse degree August 5, 2009.  The fixed star Dorsum is unfavourably situated towards lunar eclipses and portends major storms.  Currently in the US, a very serious storm, the biggest in several decades has hit a large part of the country and is crippling all transportation from planes, car travel, and travel by water.  This degree also conjoins the radical South Node of the California chart, at 14 Aquarius in the 4th house ( not shown). Transit Mars is conjunct the New Moon adding a violent( martial) element.  Transit Mercury is opposite the eclipse Degree of 29 Cancer, the Radical MC of the Los Angeles chart thus stimulating the eclipse.  Transit Pluto at 6 Capricorn is square to the Progressed 4th house Neptune and Square the Progressed 10th house Mercury creating an exact t-square and giving stimulation to the Progressed Grand Cross.   The Transiting Node at 2 Capricorn is conjunct the Progressed Saturn at 1 Capricorn and is also opposite the Radical LA Uranus at 2 Cancer ( not shown).  This also stimulates the Progressed Grand Cross formation.  Transiting Venus at 29 Sagittarius is opposite the Lunar Eclipse degree of 29 Gemini from December 21, 2010 and is conjunct with the Progressed Jupiter at 28 Sagittarius opposite the Progressed Uranus in the 29 Gemini eclipse degree thus adding even more stimulation emphasis to the Progressed Grand Cross.  Transiting Saturn in the Progressed 4th house conjuncts the Progressed South Node.

If this isn't enough, there is yet even more to add to the potential danger from a quake.
Transiting Jupiter has now moved into an exact transiting square with the Radical LA Uranus at 2 Aries (not shown) and squares the Progressed AC/DC axis which was eclipsed by the June 26, 2010 Solar Eclipse.  Transiting Uranus has moved back into the 28 Pisces Solar Eclipse degree from March 2007 and squares the Progressed Jupiter and Uranus, and Saturn featured in the Progressed Grand Cross.  In addition, Transiting BM Lilith has met up with Progressed Venus at 24 Pisces opposite yet another eclipse degree from March 2006.  Last but not least, I have been researching and reviewing old quakes to find out what role TransNeptunian Apollon in quakes since it has a reputation for expansion.  I found it active in many quakes and seems to act as an amplifier.  In this case, Transiting Apollon is in trine aspect to the Transiting Neptune and Transiting Chiron and forming a grand trine aspect with the Progressed Uranus in the eclipse degree at 29 Gemini.
There is an elevated risk of a quake due to the transiting planets lining up in the eclipse degrees and making contact with the progressed planets in the Los Angeles and even California charts.  Most significant quakes around the world happen when the transiting planets line up in the eclipse degrees and make contact with positions in the Radical and Progressed charts of cities and nations.    One other thing of note to mention is the Radical Midheaven degree in the chart of the USA sits at 13 degrees 46 minutes Aquarius and was eclipsed in August 2009.  This angle is getting transited by the New Moon and Mars.

Keep an eye out for events and take care.  Perhaps it's the big storm we are currently experiencing or there could be something else on the way.
